The Team
The HiTech Health team is led by experienced counsellors, psychological therapists, GB boxing tutors and personal exercise trainers who are dedicated to delivering the highest possible quality of services. All therapists are registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and also have numerous university level qualifications. All GB boxing tutors and personal exercise trainers are registered with England Boxing and also have qualified status with the YMCA Awards (previously CYQ), GB and England Boxing.

Javeed Khan – MSc, PG Diploma, PG Certificate, BA Honours degrees.
Javeed is the Founder, Integrative Counsellor, Psychological Therapist and GB Boxing Tutor at HiTech Health.
Javeed provides an extremely high standard of counselling, psychological therapy, GB boxing, self-defence and personal fitness training.
Javeed has been invited as an Associate Lecturer at the Sheffield Hallam University, to teach Counselling and Psychotherapy to students studying for a BA Honours degree in Education with Psychology and Counselling. Javeed is a BACP registered therapist. As a therapist Javeed has worked in many different settings – some examples include: YWCA women’s supported accommodation refuge, universities, colleges, schools, academies, National Citizen Service youth programs, and DWP Welfare to Work programmes; supporting people experiencing the following symptoms/situations:

Javeed has been working in the helping-professions since April 2009, and competing within, and teaching in boxing and fitness since 2000. Prior to his career in counselling-psychotherapy Javeed specialised in working with children, young people and communities as a Senior Youth and Community Development Worker, Volunteers Coordinator, Team Leader, Independent Living Mentor, Locality Involvement Lead Worker, Careers Adviser, Tutor, Coordinator, Staff Training Facilitator, and Independent Project Coordinator; working in a range of different settings including schools, colleges, pupil referral units, hostels, supported living residential homes, youth and community centres, sport clubs, events led by young people, crime prevention and intervention, on streets, outdoor pursuits, and the National Citizen Service Residential Programmes.
Javeed began boxing in 2000 at the age of 13, and began competing at the age of 15. After numerous great experiences of travelling in Britain and competing in competitions, Javeed later progressed to teaching boxing, and in February 2010 completed a Great Britain National Boxing Tutor qualification. Javeed later spent time learning various other combat sports and martial arts, including Muay Thai in 2011, and breakaway defence methods in 2012.
In 2015 Javeed was a Professional Boxing Sponsor Award Winner, and received a 2 year sponsor for the involvement in professional boxing from Sir and Lady Heller. Javeed made an informed decision to use the sponsor to focus further on the teaching aspects of boxing.
Javeed has taught GB Boxing, Self-Defence, Fitness and Personal Training in many different settings including: boxing gyms, staff training days, festivals, YWCA women’s refuge, primary and secondary schools, academies, colleges, pupil referral units, universities, DWP Welfare to Work programmes and with the following Sheffield community centre-based projects: Kickz Project, FURD U-MIX, Wesley Hall Youth Centre, Batemoor Community Centre, Greenhill Bradway Community Centre, Hutton Care Partnership Hub Project, Risky Roads Project, Sharrow Healthy Living Project, Reach South Sheffield, Herdings Centre, Vibe Together Women Project, Cherrytree Support Services project; and Wakefield’s Horbury Breakthrough Youth Project. Javeed works with amateur and professional boxers and children, young people and adults generally keen to try something new and begin learning the sport; providing 1-to-1 training, single gender and mixed gender group training. Javeed has delivered days involving both the physical exercise and informal education focusing on health and wellbeing enhancement.
Whilst studying at university Javeed developed a Boxing, Fitness and Self-Defence Provision, which many people attended from both student and non-student communities. The provision united people from the UK, Arabia, Africa, Bangladesh, China, Germany, Pakistan and Turkey.
Javeed has also provided and continues to offer combined physical exercise, boxing and self-defence training with counselling and psychological therapy; using the science-based and field tested body-and-mind combined approaches of Boxing Therapy and Behaviour Change. Which has proven to be very effective for PTSD trauma recovery, anger, anxiety, stress and depression symptom reduction and management, and profound for confidence building. Some examples where this has proven to help people include:
Boxing gyms, staff wellbeing and confidence building training days, community cohesion festivals, with abuse victims, in YWCA women’s refuge, primary and secondary schools, academies, colleges, pupil referral units, universities, and with the aforementioned community centre-based projects. Furthermore, during an excellent partnership with the DWP Welfare to Work programmes where Javeed provided wide-ranging counselling and psychological therapy support to both young and mature adults which also included the application of boxing, self-defence and physical exercise training.
Javeed can offer a wide range of holistic health and therapeutic services including: Counselling and Psychological Therapy, Wellbeing Coaching, Staff Training and Assistance, Personal Fitness Training, Boxing and Self-Defence, and even Boxing Birthdays and Events. Services are available for individuals, couples, groups and organisations.
Javeed is especially interested in developing new services and training courses which apply methods to deliver real improvements to the life chances of children, young people, adults and families.
Javeed is also passionate about preventing school exclusion, enhancing physical, emotional and mental wellbeing; and enhancing the lives of children and young people in care.
Javeed’s qualifications are MSc, Postgraduate Diploma, and Postgraduate Certificate in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy; First Class BA Honours degree in Youth and Community Work, Youth Work Practice Diploma, PTLLS Award in Education and Training Level 4, Great Britain National Boxing Tutor, Gym and Fitness Instruction Y.M.C.A and CYQ 2.

Professor Basia Spalek
Basia leads an extremely high standard of Clinical Supervision to the Counselling and Psychological Therapy Practitioners at HiTech Health, and delivers empowering Training and Development.
Basia is a Visiting Professor in Conflict Transformation at the University of Derby. She has conducted internationally renowned research on community-based approaches to conflict transformation. Basia recently wrote another book with her brother, published by Routledge Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy: a textbook (Spalek, B. & Spalek, M. 2019).
Basia has also taught Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy to students studying for a Master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Derby. Basia is a BACP accredited therapist and works part-time for the University of Leicester Student Counselling Service. Basia also has her own private therapy practice. Basia has worked in many different settings, supporting clients experiencing trauma, low mood, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, alongside other issues.
Basia supervises Counselling and Psychotherapy trainees and practitioners, and she is currently supervising mental health workers in Trondheim, Norway. Basia specialises in providing mental wellbeing training and supervision to businesses and organisations. Basia also enjoys long distance running, having completed many marathons, and she is now a United Kingdom Athletics running coach. Basia is also a Qigong practitioner and instructor.
Basia’s qualifications are PhD Victimisation; MSc Criminology, BSc (Hons) Psychology, and Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
